For those who believe that God is silent in these days of the persecution of Western culture, I have found that He makes his points if only we are listening. My very poor prayer life includes the book “A Year with C. S. Lewis: Daily Readings from His Classic Works.” The reading that falls on the 4th of July is especially relevant. I have wondered in these days of revolt and “resistance” not why the so-called “have-nots” have become the lowest common denominator of all mankind, but why so many of the intellectually gifted, especially among whites, seem anxious to throw away their gifts even to the point of calling for the extermination of their own race! And I am not just talking about impressionable youths, but adults and even intellectuals who exhibit a self-loathing that is almost demonic! Well, in point of fact, it is demonic.

In the July 4th reading from Lewis, there is a quote from his work, “The Screwtape Letters.” For those unfamiliar with this work, Lewis presents a series of supposed “letters” from a Major Demon—Screwtape—to a minor tempter, Wormwood. In it, Lewis tries to illustrate the ways and means for—and reasons that, demonic temptations lead to the damnation of souls. The author who chose this particular reading might have had in mind the day—the 4th of July—and the reason for the celebration of that day, America’s supposed “democracy.” Of course, the United States was never supposed to be “a democracy,” but a representative republic—something entirely different. Sad to say, however, a democracy is what we have become and all that that entails.

Screwtape speaks about the “Tyranny of Democracy” thusly:

“What I want to fix your attention on is the vast, overall movement toward the discrediting, and finally the elimination of every kind of human excellence—moral, cultural, social, or intellectual. And is it not pretty to notice how democracy (in the incantatory sense) is now doing for us the work that was once done by the most ancient Dictatorships, and by the same methods? You remember how one of the Greek Dictators (they called them ‘tyrants’ then) sent an envoy to another Dictator to ask his advice about the principles of government. The second Dictator led the envoy into a field of corn, and there he snicked off with his cane the top of every stalk that rose an inch or so above the general level. The moral was plain. Allow no pre-eminence among your subjects! Let no man live who is wiser, or better, or more famous, or even handsomer than the mass. Cut them all down to a level; all slaves, all ciphers, all nobodies. All equals. Thus Tyrants could practice, in a sense, ‘democracy.’ But now ‘democracy’ can do the same work without any other tyranny than her own. No one need now go through the field with a cane. The little stalks will of themselves bite off the big ones. The big ones are beginning to bite off their own in their desire to ‘Be Like Stalks.’”

And this is what we have now. Either at the insistence of non-whites such as the woman professor who believes that mathematics should be removed from academia because it is a construct of white supremacy [!] or under the guidance of white academics who wish dearly to be able to change their race as easily as (apparently) they can change their gender! As I look back upon some 76 years of life, I cannot help but believe that it has GOT to be the fluoride in the water or vaccinations or some external force that has made of the Civilized West an asylum filled with fools and felons.

Is this not what our culture has become? Those who do not rise to the level of humanity—and who can claim that these raging mobs are human?—do not concern themselves much with “equality” though they are make a great deal about “being disrespected!” Meanwhile, those who are a cut (and more) above the average expend vast amounts of energy and mental angst in trying to make themselves “just like everybody else.” Of course, the standard by which “everybody else” is determined is usually the lowest type. Thus, those of intelligence who should be directing the culture, have abdicated to the mindless primitive, while those who refuse to do so are punished by the State for not “being like Stalks.”
